Millicent Atieno, 43, cares for 7 birth children and 7 orphaned children. She has lived in Kibera for over 15 years. Her husband used to work a steady job, but he became ill and was laid off. She is a community health worker and supports the family by selling vegetables, fresh and smoked fish. Millicent joined Village of Love in 2012, and has paid back her $60 loan. She used the loan to increase her stock of fish and to have her own smoking facilities, thus reducing the number of fish that go to waste. Her aspiration is to see her children grow up into responsible citizens. Her eldest daughter, mother of 2, wants to attend a hairdressing course. (Information recorded in 2013)
