Why Village of Love?
In developing countries many poverty stricken families abandon their children. 80% of children in orphanages actually have family who cannot afford to support them.
Wouldn’t it be better to support children in the families that love them, rather than in an institution away from family and community?
United Nations observers have affirmed that, whether a child is orphaned in the strict sense of the word or not, the best place for the child to be raised is in a family rather than an institution.
However, the conundrum is how to fund a family in an accountable manner without encouraging the exploitation of children.
